Rumor: New 50mm f/1.4 USM Canon Lens

A rumor is around that Canon is testing a new lens, which is a 50mm lens with an aperture of 1.4. This is an improvement of the actual 50mm f/1.4 lens. It seams that will make it a bit more reliable buy upgrading the build of the lens (this lens is famous to be a bit unreliable, so this improvement is a good news). Also it will have an optical upgrade and will have an USM (Ultra Sonic Motor).

Since all the improvements we will have to expect at a high price.

Also there is no specification in the release date.

New Canon 70-200 mm f/2.8 L IS II to be Released

There are certain pretty true reports around that Canon UK is letting the release of a new 70-200 mm f/2.8L IS II slide to the public. It seams that this will be available somewhere in September. Maybe this will have the new Hybrid Image Stabilizer, that Canon is bragging about.

Canon UK is having a show on October 27th and 28th to show all the new stuff.

Release: New 50mm f/1.4 II USM Canon Lens By 25th of March

There will be a couple of announcements to be made by 25th of March by Canon. It seams that a new improved lens will be one of them. I don’t what exactly will be improved, but I am guessing a new Ultra Sonic Motor to facilitate a better and faster focusing, and I am guessing that it will be sharper than the previous model.

Also there is a new rumor that on the same day the new Canon TSi/500D will see the daylight. Although the first rumor said that this is going to be released at the PMA ( check this ), but it wasn’t released then. Anyway, we will wait an see.

Ohh and here is a list of specs for those of you who didn’t read the first post about this Canon TSi/500D:

Rumor: Canon 7D (60D) by Fall of 2009.

According to an anonymous source, that’s somewhat trusty, by the fall of this year will be launched the replacement camera for the 50D, but the name will be changed into “Canon 7D”. You might ask “Why Canon is doing this?,” well it’s said that this is because of the confusion with some models from Nikon (Canon 40D, Nikon D40). So there will be no 60D.

Here are the supposed specifications:

15.1mp (apparently it will be the same sensor with some internal upgrades)
DIGIC V (DIGIC IV a stopover to a big advancement in processing)
New 13 Point AF
1080p Movie Mode
8 fps
3″ VGA LCD
98% Viewfinder coverage
New Battery
Weathersealing
Ergonomic Upgrades
1x Compact Flash and 1x Secure Digital Slots

As seen from the specs, this seams a camera worth to buy for 40D and 50D owners (since 50D is a bit of a dissapointment).

Anyway we will wait and see how true of a rumor this is.

Rumor: The New Canon 500D Delayed?

According to Canon Rumors blog due to these economic problems that everyone is into, the new Canon 500D will be delayed until this fall.

Now I wonder whith what canon will present themselvs at the coming PMA?

Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, a Fact Not a Rumor.

The rumor I was talking about a few days ago about the release of the new professional camera, Canon EOS 1D Mark IV, seams to be true according to a lot of articles gathered at Northlight Images blog. Here’s a quote regarding the use of the video function at sport events (it seams canon is looking for approval of FIFA):

“…Canon has a replacement for the 1D MKIII ready to launch during the second quarter of 2009. What’s holding Canon back is a decision from FIFA … to allow pro-cameras with video capability ( see 5D MKII) during sporting events. FIFA is currently looking into the legal implications with television rights and contracts with broadcasters. If FIFA give the green light then Canon will release the camera.”

But it’s not a huge dead, because Canon won’t delay the launch of the camera whatever the answer from FIFA will be. There isalso a rumor that the possible announcement date is May 19, 2009.

Rumor: Canon TSi/500D and Canon 1Ds Mark IV DSLR cameras by February

There is a rumor around the net that Canon is going to release 2 new professional DSLR camera, Canon 1Ds Mark IV and Canon TSi/500D.

Here are the supposed specifications of the Canon 1Ds Mark IV camera. I found this rumor on “Photography Bay”.

CMOS Image sensor with a size of 36×24mm
21 megapixels
ISO 25-12800 expandable to ISO 10, 25600, 51200 (Awesome if it can be lowered to ISO 10, no ND filters anymore)
69-point AF EAC technology (do not know what this technology is) (TTL-AREA-SIR II AF)
Flash Sync Mode: 1 / 4000 ESR (X high-speed flash sync?)
USB2.0 and external HD transmission
4 to 3 and 16 to 9 ratios
HDMI terminal. External monitor may display LV
Continuous rate of 6.8 per second
2 DIGIC 4 processing chips
24fps and 30fps 2 kind of video mode

And about Canon TSi/500D there aren’t any specifications out there, although there is a bigger chance that this is true, than the 1Ds Mark IV.

Nanotechnology Could be used in Future Image Sensors.

A team of researchers from the University of Glasgow from Scotland, are currently developing small nano-structures that would be used on image sensors. The research is funded by half a million pounds from the Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council. This new sensor will enable cameras to capture sharper and more colorful images.

Professor David Cumming of Glasgow University who is leading the research team claims that “We’ll be using nanotechnology to manipulate particles, so as to take advantage of the properties of electrons to create a new optical effect.” He also added “Digital imaging has come a long way in recent years and this project aims to further improve the ability of digital devices to produce high-quality pictures”

The project is expected to last until the middle of 2012.

Rumor: Nikon D400. Too good to be true?

It seams that Nikon are releasing a bunch of new cameras. After announcing by mistake the new Nikon D3X, it seams that now news are traveling about Nikon are developing the upgrade of D300 the Nikon D400. But, for now stays at “just a rumor” state.

Here are the supposed specifications:

Beside the fact that it isn’t Full Frame, with a lot of specs aproaches to the soon to be released Canon 5D Mark II. It’s rumored that the Nikon D400 will have a price tag of $2000. It’s also said that this will be release in February 2009. Since this is a rumor don’t take all of this as granted. Stay tuned for more info.
